How can we overcome Temptation?

This Friday the young adults met for a time of fellowship and fun games at our usual place in Bournemouth.

The topic was TEMPTATION.

We started with a great time in P&W

As humans, we are all exposed to temptations but the Word of God encourages us that we can resist them and not fall into sin. How could we do that?

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” – 1 Corinthians 10:13

The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in all ways, just like we are today, yet He didn’t sin (Matt 4:1-11, Heb 4:15). So the Lord understands the fact that we will be tempted, but He has made a way out for us: we can call out to Him & He will help us as our compassionate High Priest.

Jesus said: “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”  – Mark 14:38

So we did a game where we had to write what could help us in our daily life not to fall into temptation and had to stand on it, but still walk and reach our goal.. much fun!

Jesus knew that Peter was going to be tempted, He told him that he had already prayed for his faith not to fail (Luke 22:32). So the Lord knew what was going to happen to Peter, but yet He didn’t condemn him, on the contrary, He said that when he would come out of it, he would strengthen his brothers.

Job was tempted too. The devil asked God for permission to tempt Job, yet his faith has been tested and made like gold (Job 23:10).

We had quite a tough puzzle to do, but lots of fun : 1Cor 10:13

It was a very special evening, a great time in worship and a great opportunity to share what the Lord has been doing in our hearts recently. We are looking forward to the next meeting and to spending again such a rich time together!
