“For the majority of the people, many from Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not purified themselves, and yet they ate the Passover contrary to what had been prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying “May the Lord pardon everyone who sets his heart to seek God – the Lord God of his fathers – even though it is not in accordance with the (ceremonial) purification (rules) of the sanctuary”. So the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people (of their uncleanness).”.
II Chronicles 30:18-20
The awesomeness of God. He had very precise rules about purification in order to worship Him. Yet in this instance, because the king prays for the people and asks God to see the sincerity of the hearts of those seeking Him, Almighty God overlooks the very rules He puts in place. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He looks at our hearts. He looks past the sometimes clumsy and messy outward appearance of our lives. Just as He pardoned the Israelites, so He meets with those who earnestly seek Him today.
How awesome is that? The perfect One makes a way for our imperfection.
