July 2017: My Trip to the UK for the Youth Camp- Part 1

Hi, my name is Tikvah. I was born in South Africa and grew up there until my family moved to Mauritius, which is where I’ve lived for the past seven years of my life, but that’s another story. Going to the UK has always been a big dream of mine, and that’s the story I want to tell now; I hope you’ll read it to the end.

The first time I heard about the CTMI youth camp in the UK was actually in 2014 at the CTMI youth camp in Mauritius, and I remember thinking how cool it would be to be able to go. But 2015 and 2016 came and went by, and I never went; it just wasn’t an option or didn’t work out.

This year came around and again the camp crossed my mind, but at the end of January, my sister and I needed to renew our passports and it would take 6-8 months before I would get the new one; so I prepared myself to wait yet another year… Weeks went by and the video for the youth camp announcing the theme and the dates went up; when I watched it, I was reminded of how badly I wanted to go. But I didn’t have a passport and there was no way I would get it in time… and on top of that I needed a visa anyways. So for me, it was really out of the question. But that feeling didn’t go away. So I put it before God, I told Him if I was meant to go, He was able. I made phone calls and was told rather firmly that my passport couldn’t get here sooner…
